Above average food, nice views of the water and kind wait staff. What else could you ask for?
The Sand Castle is one of the great Fire Island bars/restaurants. The view is gorgeous - true oceanfront dining - and the staff are sweet and fun and attentive. The menu tends to rotate and is always amazing! Generally lots of gluten free and vegan options which is especially nice for an island/beach environment, which is otherwise a bit heavy with fried food, pizza, and beach snacks. It’s also a fun cash bar with a good amount of outside seating at the rail or to take drinks away for a hot beach day.
One of our favorite places in fire island. Always good food and great service. Our sever Brandon really took care of us.
This is the perfect way to start your Sunday. Samuel and bar crew are hilarious and oooh we had the rocket reach and boy did it send us to the moon!!! Loved it Andrew and John in the restaurant were phenomenal. The mezcal paper planes soared to new nights. Not your grandmas paper planes!! The mushroom calamari is to die for and the burgers (vegan and poppers burger) are incredible. We had a beautiful bottle of wine with the best views on fire island, we even spotted a pod of whales in the ocean 10/10
This is one of those places that will super surprise you . The restaurant is super cute. Comfortable and nice looking. Staff , OMG ...starting from the host and our waiter ,they were beyond brilliant. Food was perfect, Tasty and brilliant presentation. All 5 for this place .
Phenomenal service and Amazing Food. If your in the Grove you HAVE to go to sand castle for dinner. Drinks are strong but not too strong and the food was absolutely perfect. I had the salmon and my buddy got the halibut; freshest fish I’ve ever had. Another friend got a burger and he said it was one of the best he’d ever had.
We ate here twice in August 2024, and both times impressed me. I say the date because it seems Fire Island places are always changing teams and managers, so they do have issues with consistency. Crab bisque, snapper, mollusks, bbq burnt ends, short ribs with gnocchi, Caesar salad—all very fresh and well prepared in our visits. Caesar was marked endive Caesar, but no endive appeared. Salad was still good, maybe just change the menu? Mollusks are usually a good choice in NY and here is no exception: fresh and lovely wine sauce. I think toasting the bread with a gas grill adds a gassy char that’s not quite right. But that’s nitpicking. Yes, it’s every bit as expensive as Manhattan, so not a budget choice at all. But nothing on Fire Island really is.
I loved every single thing about our dinner. Everyone was friendly & kind very helpful. Food was fabulous. I can't say enough about this place.
